Made with color and light in mind
These pieces were created to interact with light by casting colorful shadows on the wall in sunlight, or through more subtle displays from low or artificial light sources. These pieces respond to available light and the way they glow will change throughout the day. In this way they can be markers of time and season. Hang on the wall with sunlight coming in from the side to cast colorful shadows that move with the sun. Or near a window to see the glass shine brightly. Hung near a lamp they can also cast impressive shadows. And a flicker of a close candle can give a warm glow and low shadow.
This is an an ongoing series of light + glass studies in light’s effect on glass
Hanging: The Light Catcher comes with a safety hook for installation on a wall. Ensure the nail is securely attached to a solid wall. You can also use a hook (not included) to hang. They were designed to hang on a wall and cast pretty shadows they are also lovely hanging in the window (but might not cast colorful shadows).
Placement: You will have to play around with the light in the space where you intend to hang. Sunlight coming in from the side seems to produce the best shadows. Lamps, windows, candles are all good opportunities to see if the piece gives a nice shadow show too. The closer an artificial light is to the glass the bigger the shadows will be.
Care: Wipe down with soft cloth using your favorite glass cleaner if needed.
